Magic Lantern Slides
Glass slides from the late 1800s
Magic Lantern Slides were an early form of parlour entertainment.

In the 1880's or 1890's these glass slides were created, depicting the story of Tour du monde en quatre-vingts jours (Around the World in 80 Days).

Each slide is created by first applying a black outline transfer, and then hand painting/tinting the image. Thus each set is slightly different and variations in clothing colour etc can be noted.

The sets were usually bought and stored in a cardboard box (which is missing for this set!)

The Tour de monde set consist of 6 glass slides.
