George Munro SEASIDE LIBRARY

Ed: Interesting sidenote for me. George Munro was born in 1825 at Millbrook, in the County of Pictou, in Nova Scotia, Canada.

At the age of twelve, he was apprenticed to the printer of The Observer in the town of Pictou. After two years he went to school in the nearby town of New Glascow. At the age of nineteen, he entered Pictou Academy, and remained three years.
In 1847, after graduating, he returned to New Glascow and taught for three years. In 1850 he went to teach in the Free Church Academy in Halifax, later becoming its principal. and remained there for 6 years, studying theology in his spare time.
He left Halifax in 1856 and travelled to New York, and found work with D. Appleton & Co (Five Weeks in a Balloon fame!)
(this info from: Dalhousie Review)

These books/stories were printed in soft wraps by George Munro, beginning in 1877.

Note that when trying to date a title, even a copyright date may not be indicative of the actual date of issue, as the titles were reprinted many times, without change to the copyright date. Advertisements at the back, for other titles, may help place the actual date of issue of the title.
