Green & Brown, Collection Andrew Nash The first US edition of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is very interesting. It is less difficult to aquire than was once believed. It was ONCE believed that there were only 15 - 20 copies known. (*** NOTE: This number is WAY too low, as quite a few copies have been sold on Ebay and at traditional auctions over the years. See below this section for over 20 examples!!! ***) The title page layout is (Tissue between Frontis and Title page) NOTE: No mention of illustrations!:
The cover illustration is that of Jellyfish.
The pages edges are natural, not gilt The text in the book concludes on page 303 with the words "THE END"

The more common 1873 edition is published by Geo. M. Smith & Co. Boston. The cover illustration is an image of Captain Nemo using a Sextant in a disc in the center of the cover.
