Sampson Low, Gilt Banner Editions - Non Pears'

Between 1876 and 1892 Sampson Low, London, issued a set of 38 Jules Verne titles, that looked similar to the Pears' Soap Banner edition, but these voumes have a distinctive Gilt Banner and Gilt title. Instead of the 39 books, like in the Pears' series, there are only 38, because Mathias Sandorf is published in 1 volume in this set.

Note: The publication of the some of the titles in the Gilt Banner Edition pre-dates the Pears' Edition (1882-1895).

The books can have many colours, and each title may have been published in multiple colours.
Red, Grey, Green, Lime Green, Dark Green, Blue, Light Blue, Brown, Tan Brown, Light Brown (Taupe), Purple,

The Vanished Diamond

A gilt Banner edition of The Vanished Diamond, appears on a Tanzania Stamp, honoring Jules Verne.

The stamp appears to take liberties with the cover of the book, in that the image is Silver instead of the expected Black, and the "Diamond" Banner is also Silver where it is expected to be gold.

I will not know if this image has been doctored until I see an actual Gilt Banner copy of The Vanished Diamond.
